Paintin

Having found myself without work for quite a while recently... I've been getting all those things done that seem to forever be on the list... like paintin my garage...

Shederooni

Spent the weekend putting up a 12' x 8' shed in my garden. It's to hide the ugly plastic kerosene oil tank (heating fuel) and store all the shit currently cluttering up my garage... lawnmower, bicycles, wood etc.

Saturday was a glorious autumn day and spent getting materials and building the base...

It was a bit of a job on my own... and the weather wasn't playing ball. But got most of it done in the end. Still got to do the windows, door locks, handles and finishing... and then fill it with crap!

Started early on Sunday and got the floor down...

Then the rain came and I got soaked to the bone... it was time for a break and the MotoGP anyway...

I finished getting the felt on the roof just before dark

With the garage purged of non-moto-sickle items, the winter projects can begin (oh... also after I've sorted proper insulation and lighting...). Looking forward to it!

Fitness and Space

Earlier this evening I finished my last training session for a long time (I hope!). Between working away from home 5 days a week, moving home and preparing bikes I haven't had any time to get on a bike and get bike-fit. Been getting my ass into the gym (I hate it...) and working on some aerobics and some high-rep weights for the last few months. It's not ideal, but better than nothing. I felt my fitness let me down at Erzberg and am a bit concerned about it for the Manx GP. Practice starts on Saturday evening and I'm doing 2 races on Friday the 3rd September - last year I was bushed after just 1 race.

Took the Monster for a blast down to Geoff's place on Sunday to pickup a dB killer he made for the BAMF... rode it briskly, crouching down trying to simulate race-tuck. From the 45 min trip each way my neck and shoulders were sore yesterday! Screw the gym... I just need to ride more.

Okay... enough yaddah-yaddah... now some pics...

Just had the roof of my new garage boarded up this last w/e...

... more space to collect shit.

Landed Gentry

I've been mighty busy the last few weeks trying to buy a house. It finally all went through last Wednesday and I am now a homeowner for the first time :-)

I think I'm also going to be skint :-( Haven't dared look at my bank balances yet!

The main reason for doing this: I needed a bigger garage!

Check out my new 'blank canvas':

Needs some work to turn it into a workshop... but I can see myself spending many hours in here building bikes... and mabe even a cool car!

Spent this last weekend moving in... only about half done. The move was held up while I went on a trackday at Snetterton to test the BAMF and little Suzuki SV to be wielded at the Manx GP in August - but that's for another post... did I mention I bought a house... with a double garage!

It came to me... on a ray of light!

I hope to finish the move this weekend so I'm going to miss the next round of Flattrack racin' at Stoke. But, no worries... I am sooooooo pleased with the space! Been dreaming of this many years.

I am now landed gentry!

:-)
